Cobb places 20th at Division II Nationals, earns All-American Honors
November 18, 2006

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Angela Cobb completed her transformation from an unknown transfer to a national elite runner on Saturday at the NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country National Championships.

Cobb, a Clayton State senior, finished tied for 20th overall in the national meet with a time of 20:51.6 minutes, and that was good enough for NCAA Division II All-American honors for the transfer this season from Valdosta State. The top 30 individual runners overall garnered Division II All-American honors.

This marks the third straight season that Clayton State has claimed a Division II All-American in women’s cross country. Over the last two seasons, Allison Kreutzer earned Division II All-American honors for the Lakers.

Cobb finished tied for 20th with Emry McKay from North Alabama. She was in the Top 10 for much of the race, but dropped back a little in the final mile. Esther Komen from Western State won the NCAA Division II women’s individual national championship with a time of 20:09.4.
