MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State women's cross country head coach
Mike Mead announced that Ivorie Smith of LaGrange, Ga. has signed to run with the Lakers for the 2022 season.
A senior at LaGrange High School, Smith has qualified for the State Championships for cross country all four years.
"Ivorie is a good addition to our cross country program and she provides us with much needed depth," Mead said. "She will also help during track season with her diverse background in the 400m, 800m and hurdle events."
A four-year runner at LHS, Smith's best finish at the state cross country meet was 44th in 2018. A member of the track & field team, she was the 2022 Region 2-AAAA runner up in the 400m and 800m and advanced to Sectionals on May 7 where she qualified for the State Championship meet in the 400m after finishing seventh.
In cross country, Smith has the third fastest two-mile and 5k time in school history.
In track & field, she has the ninth fastest 200m time in school history, third fastest 400m, fourth fastest 800m, fifth fastest 1600m, sixth fastest 100m Hurdles and second fastest in the 300m Hurdles. She has been a member of the seventh fastest 4x100m relay time, fastest 4x200m relay, fastest, second fastest and seventh fastest 4x400m relay time and the fastest 4x800m relay time. All times were noted prior to Sectionals on May 7.
Smith also has set top-10 school marks in the long jump, high jump and triple jump.
A member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Smith plans to major in health sciences.
