Laker XC Competed in the GCSU Bobcat Invitational on Friday Evening

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Clayton State University cross country teams competed in the GCSU Bobcat Invitational on Friday evening.  The Lakers raced in the new Bobcat XC Course which will host the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Championships later in October. 
 
MEN'S SIDE
The Lakers were led by sophomore Emanuel Dixon.  Dixon finished in 17th place overall with a time of 27:19.34.  Following close behind was James Morrow.  James keeps up his impressive sophomore season with a 20th place finish with a time of 27:34.17, which is a new PR by over four seconds.  Dixon claimed his third straight top-20 finish while Morrow placed in the top 20 for the second straight meet. 
 
Mykell Strickland and Dion Dial placed third and fourth on the team, respectively.  Strickland finished with a time of 28:38.52 and placed 37th while Dial finished in 42nd and clocked a final time of 28:55.38.  Nehemiah Horton rounds out the top five for the Lakers as he finished in 54th place with a time of 29:34.61.
 
The Lakers finished the meet in fifth place as a team and Augusta won the meet with 28 points.  Overall, Clayton State finished in third among PBC schools in the meet.

WOMEN'S SIDE
The ladies were led by Jada Warren.  Warren clocked the 27th fastest time finishing in 20:50.80.  Warren was the 17th fastest PBC runner in the race.  Following behind was Ivorie Smith.  Smith finished in 53rd with a time of 22:12.62.  Kalkidan Hawkins, Ahlana Failey, and Maleena Castillo rounded out the top five finishers for the Lakers.  Hawkins, who finished third on the team, ran her 5K in 24:05.08 while Failey followed with a 81st place finih with a time of 24:21.61.  Castillo placed 82nd with a time of 24:23.19. 
 
Amaya Myers rounds out the Laker runners with a time of 26:32.14.  The Lakers finished in ninth place overall while Augusta finished first with 41 points.
