AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference announced its selections for the PBC All-Academic Teams for men's and women's soccer as well as men's and women's cross country.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The Lakers saw a pair of selections in
Jada Warren and
Marley Tate. This is the first such distinction for Tate while Warren earned this award for the second time in her career. Both Warren and Tate had terrific seasons for the Lakers. Warren led the team in all five races and saw her best time come in the UNG XC Invitational, clocking a time of 19:26.8. Tate, who raced in four of five races, placed in the top two on the team in two meets and ran her best time at the same meet, crossing the finish line in 21:04.4. Warren is majoring in Nursing while Tate is studying Health and Fitness Management.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Four Clayton State women's soccer standouts were selected to this honor. Dayla Ayayda,
Vanesa Herrera Cano, Elisebet Isleifsdottir, and
Hanna Karlsson were the four selections. This is the first selection for Dayla, Vanesa, and Hanna while Elisebet earned this honor for the second time. Ayayda, who is majoring in Criminal Justice, scored a goal in 16 matches for the Lakers. In addition to this honor, Ayada also earned the CSC Academic All-District honors. Herrera Cano, who majors in Nursing, played in 10 matches this season. Isleifsdottir, who is studying Math & Integrative Studies with an emphasis on Pre-Engineering, suited up for 12 matches on the Laker defense this season. Finally, Karlsson, who is a Math major, notched an assist in 16 matches in 2025.
MEN'S SOCCER
The Clayton State men's soccer team saw three of its players earn the PBC All-Academic Team recognition. Captain
Miguel Torrecillas,
Othmane Chagour, and
Aaron Overmars were awarded this distinction. This is the second selection for Chagour while Torrecillas and Overmars earned this award for the first time. A native of Albacete, Spain, Torrecillas played in 17 matches and knocked in a pair of goals and added an assist. In addition to this honor, the Health and Fitness Management major also earned the CSC Academic All-District honor. A native of Casablanca, Morocco, Chagour had a solid season for the Lakers as he knocked in a goal as a defender. Chagour also landed on the second-team All-PBC this season. Othmane is obtaining his MBA from Clayton State. Rounding out the selections is
Aaron Overmars. Overmars, who is a native of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, also added a lot of depth to the defensive unit for the Lakers. He scored three goals in all 20 matches. He was only one of five Lakers to play in all 20 matches this season. Overmars, like Chagour, is working to obtain his MBA.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The PBC All-Academic team, formally the PBC Team of Academic Distinction, is presented to the student athletes that are of sophomore standing, boast a 3.50 GPA, and has played or participated in at least half of the respective sport. Transfer students are immediately eligible for this award once they met those requirements. The PBC Sports Information Directors oversee this program.
