Jordan Davis Named Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State head men's soccer coach Pete Petersen announced Tuesday the addition of Jordan Davis as assistant men's soccer coach.

Davis returns to Morrow after spending six seasons (2009-14) on staff under Petersen. Davis helped coach one of the best seasons in program history in 2010 when the Lakers reached the Elite Eight.

He joins Trent Orndorf and Avery Shepard '16 as men's assistants.

"I am thrilled to have Coach Davis return to Laker Nation," Petersen exclaimed. "He knows the school, the area and the conference, which is very helpful. He leads phenomenal sessions, has a keen recruiting eye and is very well respected. I'm looking forward to getting after it this year"

Outside of Clayton State, Davis serves as a youth club director for Southern Soccer Academy in Atlanta, working as the club's college recruiting coordinator since 2008. While at Southern Soccer Academy, Davis helped teams to State Cup titles, participated in regional and national events, and traveled abroad for coaching trips in England and Italy.

Additionally, Davis has worked on the US Soccer Olympic Development Program Region Staff, Georgia ODP, and has previous collegiate experience at Columbus State University (women's soccer) and the University of West Georgia (women's soccer).

"I'm excited to be back at Clayton State," Davis said. "I am looking forward to bringing in a fresh perspective on the game and helping these young men grow into their potential. Coach Petersen has built a great program, and I am ready to coach alongside him once again."

In 2016, Davis was hired as the first head coach for Peachtree City MOBA in the Premier Development League and also has USL experience coaching with the Atlanta Metros U20 men's and women's teams.

He played four seasons of collegiate soccer, splitting time at Georgia State University (2002-05) and Charleston Southern University (2001). He graduated from GSU in 2005 with a bachelor of science in psychology and is currently working on his master's of coaching education and kinesiology degree.

As a professional, Davis played in the NASL with the Atlanta Silverbacks along with playing in the PDL in Atlanta, Columbus, Ohio, Richmond, Va. and the NPSL with the Georgia Revolution. In 2011, Davis was the only player to compete in all 28 league games of the NASL season with the Silverbacks. He is also an avid runner, qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Davis currently holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma.

Jordan is married to the former Chrissy Culver, and resides with his wife and stepson, Michael, in Marietta, Ga. Chrissy Davis, an All-SEC forward for Auburn University Women's Soccer (2001-2004), is in her 17th year teaching at Cherokee High School and coaches the girls soccer team.

In addition to Davis' hiring, Petersen has also announced the addition of Jonny Evans '17 as a volunteer assistant coach.

Evans graduated from Clayton State in 2017 with a degree in business administration and earned a master's degree from Northumbria University in international sport management in 2019.

Evans was a four-year student-athlete for the Lakers from 2012-15 and was a two-time All-PBC student-athlete.
