AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) unveiled its men's soccer Team of Academic Distinction selections on Wednesday morning. The Clayton State University men's soccer team saw two of the 21 conference selections land on the list.
Graduate student
Othmane Chagour and seasoned Laker veteran
Isami Takeuchi represented the Lakers on this list. A native of Casablanca, Morrocco, Chagour had a great first season for the Lakers. This is the first such academic award in a Laker uniform but the work that he did on the field really stands out. This season saw Othmane earn All-Conference, All-Region, and All-America honors. In 2024, Chagour played in all 21 matches and scored a pair of goals and added a pair of assists. His defensive unit held opponents to fewer than two goals in 16 of 21 matches.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Takeuchi has racked in the academic achievements in the five years that he played for the Lakers. In his five seasons, Isami is a two-time CSC All-District selection, four-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll honoree, and garnered a pair of D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards to go along with his three PBC Team of Academic Distinction honors. This season saw Takeuchi play in 16 matches and fired off seven shots. During his Laker career, he played in 77 matches which is tied for the third-most matches in program history.
