MORROW, Ga. – The Division II Conference Commissioners' Association (D2CCA) announced its selections for the men's soccer All-Southeast Region teams on Tuesday morning. The Lakers saw four of its student-athletes make the list.
The Lakers saw
Geo Rios,
Alexis Iturria, and
Christian Ransome get the nod as first-team All-Southeast Region selections while
Wilfried Kamden received second-team recognition. This the third straight season that Rios received this accolade and Iturria's second such selection. Ransome and Kamden earned their first D2CCA All-Southeast Region accolade. Christian Hatley of Lander was the only other Peach Belt Conference (PBC) player on list. Other conferences represented on the two teams were the South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas.
A native of Lawrenceville, Ga., Rios has had himself a phenomonal season. This season was one for the record books for Rios as he broke the school record for the most career points, most career matches played, and most career matches started. This season also saw Rios earned his fourth-straight PBC First-Team All-Conference accolade and his third straight PBC Offensive Player of the Year honor. Rios scored a team-second best 10 goals and added 12 assists. The Laker midfielder has notched double-digit assist numbers for the third straight season. In addition to these accomplishments, Rios also was one of five Lakers to earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.
A native of Hampton, Ga., Iturria also had a great season. The Laker forward led the team with 13 goals and is tied with Rios for the team lead in assists with 12. Iturria also led the team, the conference, and the nation with 103 shots. His 103 shots are 24 more than anyone in Division II and broke the single-season Laker school record. In addition, he also led the team and the conference with 38 points. Iturria, thus far this season, was a first-team All-Conference selection for the second time in his career.
A native of Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago, Ransome was the backbone of this Laker defensive unit that only surrendered 23 goals which is the fewest since 2019. This season, Ransome earned the Conference's Defensive Player of the Year, a feat that no other Laker has achieved in their career. Ransome scored a goal and added an assist in the NCAA First Round match over Lenoir-Rhyne University on November 16
th. Over his Laker career, Ransome is a two-time All-PBC selection and has earned various academic awards including PBC Team of Academic Distinction, the PBC Presidential Honor Roll and a CSC Academic All-District nod.
Rounding out the selections is
Wilfried Kamden. The Yaoundé, Cameroon native turned in a solid season in his lone season in Morrow, scoring eight goals and adding four assists. His eight goals are good for third on the team. Kamden was one of six players to have played in all 16 games. He also earned a first-team All-PBC mention and was one of the four Lakers that earned All-Tournament mention.
Athletic communication professionals from Division II Southeast Region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA all-region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced in December. The first-team selections are only eligible for All-America honors. The Division II Conference Commissioners sponsor the All-Region teams.
