Augusto Oliva and Javier Gonzalez Named to the PBC Men's Golf Team of Academic Distinction

Morrow, Ga. – For the third consecutive year, Clayton State men's golf student-athletes Augusto Oliva and Javier Gonzalez have been named to the Peach Belt Conference men's golf Team of Academic Distinction, which was announced by the PBC Thursday afternoon. They join twenty-five other Clayton State student-athletes who have also received the same honors this academic year.

Oliva, the 2022 men's golf team MVP, is a junior from Buenos Aires, Argentina majoring in Management (Supply Chain Management). His Clayton State cumulative grade point average is a 3.48.

Gonzalez, a senior from San Jose del Cabo, Mexico has recorded a 3.57 cumulative grade point average and is expected to graduate this summer with a Bachelor's degree in Management.

The Peach Belt Conference men's golf Team of Academic Distinction is presented by Barnes & Noble College and is part of the PBC's larger initiative to celebrate the academic achievements of PBC student-athletes. The program is modeled after the CoSIDA Academic All-America program.

To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.
