WESTLAKE, Ohio – The Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2ADA) announced on Thursday morning its selections for the Academic Achievement Award. Clayton State University saw 18 of its student-athletes selected for this prestigious honor.
Clayton State is one of six Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools that saw at least one selection. Overall, the Peach Belt Conference saw 574 student-athletes selected. As a division, there were a record-breaking 19,646 student-athletes from 196 institutions recognized. Of the 18 Lakers recognized, there are eight first time earners, a pair of two-time earners, and eight three-time earners. The women's soccer team led the department with six selections while the men's soccer, women's track & field/cross country, and men's golf teams trailed behind with five, three, and two selections, respectively.

To be eligible for this academic award, the student-athlete must have completed at least two years of college work at their institution and must boast a cumulative GPA above a 3.5. This award is intended to celebrate the academic achievements of the Division II student athletes and since its inception in the 2007-08 season, there have been 147,622 student-athletes recognized.
