Laker Soccer Honored by the United Soccer Coaches

This is the second straight season that both the men's and women's teams received this distinction

Academic Excellence | August 4, 2025

KANSAS CITY – The United Soccer Coaches announced on August 1st the College Team Academic Award winners.  Both the Clayton State University women's and men's teams were selected for the second straight season.  The Lakers were one of seven Peach Belt Conference selections and one of two PBC schools with both a men's and women's team represented.
 
Overall, there were 697 teams recognized on this including 283 men's teams and 414 women's teams.  Clayton State was one of 151 schools that featured both a men's and women's team.  To be selected for this this distinction, the team must boast a team GPA of a 3.0 throughout the 2024-25 Academic Year. 
 
Both Coach Petersen's and Clarke's squads opens its 2025 regular season on Thursday, September 4th on the road.  The men's team plays Nova Southeastern at 7:30 p.m. while the women's team opens against Rollins at 7 p.m. Please visit claytonstatesports.com for all things Laker soccer.
