19 Clayton State Student-Athletes Recognized by the D2ADA

CLEVELAND – The Division 2 Athletic Directors Association (D2ADA) announced on Thursday the recipients of the 2024-25 D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards.  The Clayton State Department of Athletics saw 19 of its student-athletes earn this distinction. The Peach Belt Conference saw 625 selections from seven of the 10 institutional members. 
 
The CSU men's soccer team leads the selections with seven student athletes followed by the women's soccer team with six.  Women's basketball then follows with three selections and men's cross country/track, women's cross country/track, and men's basketball each saw one selection.  Of all the selections, 11 were first time honorees, seven saw their second such honor, and Isami Takeuchi is the lone Laker to be three-time selection.

ABOUT THE AWARD
The Academic Achievement Awards are in its 18th year, and it recognizes the academic achievements of student-athletes at the DII level.  For its first time in the program's history, the D2AdA recognized over 20,000 student athletes from 202 schools.  Historically, there have been over 190,000 student athletes recognized. The student athlete must be of junior standing and boast a GPA above a 3.5.
