MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State Athletics continued a culture of academic excellence on Saturday, May 4 as the program celebrated 17 individuals earning their degrees at the 2019 Spring Commencement Ceremony held at The Loch.
 
This year's graduates represent all 13 sports in the department's history with that group being headlined by men's soccer and men's basketball with three each. .
 
Earning degrees from men's soccer 
Chevaun Blake, Nick Bracey and 
Kevin Otokore while men's basketball had Deriyon Johnson (Manager), 
Aubrey McRae and A.J. Rials.
 
Women's basketball (
Monica Alexander, 
Shaquoria Miles), cheerleading (Kayla Futrell, 
Brittany Pettus), men's cross country/track & field (
Andrew Omoregbe, 
T.J. Witherspoon) and men's golf (
Fran Hernandez, 
Luke Spooner) each followed with two graduates.
 
Rounding out this spring's graduates with one apiece are women's soccer (
Marie Durr), women's cross country/track & field (
Hailey Budd) and women's tennis (
Alina Ageichik).
 
Since the 2014-15 year, Clayton State Athletics has produced more than 100 graduates, including a program record 29 in Spring of 2018.
 
Clayton State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia located 15 miles southeast of Atlanta, Ga., currently offers 11 sports as well as cheerleading and is a member of NCAA Division II. The Lakers have more than 140 student-athletes competing for championships at the national, regional and conference level with each program being members of the Peach Belt Conference.
