MORROW, Ga. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its selections for Academic All-District on Tuesday afternoon for the track & field and cross country contests.  The Clayton State University track & field and cross country teams saw three selections this year.

For the third time in his career, Sancho Smith was selected for this honor and representing the women was Destiny Hanna and Aerin Summers.  Hanna earned this distinction for the second time and Summers was selected to her first Academic All-District list.

A senior from Warwick, Bermuda, Smith was a key part of the mid-distance and long-sprints this season.  Sancho earned an All-Conference honor in the indoor 4x400m relay and ran his career best in the 800m at the Outdoor PBC Meet with a time of 1:52.11.  He finished fifth in that race.  He also placed in the individual top 10 in 11 events between the indoor and outdoor seasons and earned a PR in the 400m dash with a time of 49.71.

A native of Riverdale, Ga., Summers competed in seven meets across the indoor and outdoor seasons.  In those seven meets, Aerin set new PRs in the 60m dash (8.31) and 100m dash (13.20). She saw her best finish come at the KMS Invitational finishing in 12th place in the 200m dash.  Summers earned the PBC Presidential Honor last season and was selected to the PBC Academic team this past season.

A native of Villa Rica, Ga., Hanna had quite a successful season.  This season saw Hanna become a four-time conference champion sweeping the 100m outdoor and 60m indoor as well as winning the outdoor 4x100m and 200m dash.  Destiny also broke the 100m dash record and 4x100m relay record this season as well.  Hanna also holds the second fastest 200m dash time in program history after finishing with a time of 24.44 at the Outdoor Championships.  In addition to this accomplishment, Hanna is a two-time PBC All-Academic team member and was a PBC Presidential Honor roll mention last season.
