DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Clayton State University track & field programs are competing in the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday. The Lakers are hoping to improve upon last year's results.

LAST SEASON
The Laker men's team placed sixth last season while the women's placed fourth. Altogether, the Lakers brought home four individual or relay conference championships and seven top three finishes. The Lakers are looking to improve upon that going into these championships.
WOMEN'S SIDE
Leading the way for the women is
Marley Tate,
Ivorie Smith,
Destiny Hanna, and
Jada Jenkins. Tate enters the championships as the second seed in the 400m dash with a time of 55.94. She was only one of two runners to go sub 56 seconds this season. Marley also looks to make an impact on the 4x400m relay team who enters as the second seed going into the weekend. Ivorie enters the meet with the fifth fastest time in the 400m hurdles with a time of 63.83. Hanna enters the meet as the third seed in the 100m dash with a time of 12.15 and is the two seed in the 200m dash with a time of 24.97. Hanna was only the second runner to go sub 25 seconds in the race. Rounding out the Lakers on the track is Jenkins. Jenkins ran the third fastest time in the 200m dash with a time of 25.07 while she finished sixth in the league in the 100m dash. The Lakers will also look to
Ahlana Failey,
Ziona Harris, and
Justice Lester to make an impact as well, on the track.
In the field,
Gabriella Lawrence,
Jacquelyn Johnson,
Hailey Jackson-Morgan, and
Keira Davis lead the Lakers. Lawrence enters the meet in the top 10 in the league in the high, long, and triple jumps and is looking to break out. Johnson and Jackson-Morgan are also looking to break out as they all rank in the top 10 in the conference in the shot put, discus, and hammer.
Keira Davis, who placed second in the indoor high jump, currently holds the second-best mark in the event with a 1.60m height. These athletes will be supported by
Iyanna Jordan and
Janiya Daniel who are also looking to compete hard.
MEN'S SIDE
The men are led by reigning PBC Outdoor Male Athlete of the Year
Davonte Jackson,
Camron Gaddis,
Kevin Turner, and
Drewmel Banks. Jackson is currently in a tie for 17
th place in the nation in the long jump and is second in the PBC, so he is looking to duplicate or improve that mark in this championship. Jackson is also in the top five in the conference in the 400m and 110m hurdles and in the triple jump. Gaddis enters as one of the best 800m and 1500m runners in the meet and is looking to continue that upward trajectory going into this meet.
Kevin Turner enters the championship as the fifth fastest 200m runner with a time of 21.66 while he currently ranks seventh in the 100m dash. Banks enters the meet ranked sixth in the 100m dash. These runners are also supported by
Sancho Smith,
Rakiem Barnes,
Jamien Wright,
Santonio Rio,
Rohan Holness, and
Emanuel Dixon.
In the field, joining Jackson, is
Derrick White,
Christian Wiltshire, and
Logan Wright. White is currently seventh in the triple jump and ninth in the long jump while Wright is eighth in both the long and triple jumps. Wiltshire enters the championships in eighth in the high jump with a final height of 1.91m. Joining these athletes are
Xavier Smith-Robinson in the throws and
Avery Moran and
Terry Mitchner, who are competing in the decathlon. This is the second straight multi competition for Mitchner in a championship while Moran is set to start his first career multi competition.
