SAVANNAH, Ga. – Hitting the outdoor competition season seemed to agree with Clayton State men's track & field as they delivered a number of impressive performances at the Savannah State Eye Opener on Saturday, March 2.
 
Freshman 
Janei Sewell (Newnan, Ga.) notched three Top-10 finishes to lead the Lakers, those highlighted by a 3-of-14 outing in the 4x400-meter relay (3:22.93) with junior 
Chris Florence (Newnan, Ga.), sophomore 
Courtland White (Rex, Ga.) and freshman 
Churchill Ezeokonkwo (Riverdale, Ga.). Individually he was 5-of-52 in the 200-meters with a time of 22.82 and 7-of-48 in the 100-meters (11.26).
 
Florence added a 2-of-33 finish in the 400-meters with a mark of 48.14 and junior 
Evan Ortiz (McDonough, Ga.) came in 5-of-15 in the 5,000-meters (16:23.13). White chipped in on the individual side with a solid 6-of-31 performance in the 1,500-meters as he registered a time of 4:14.09 and junior 
Keldren Reddick (Thomasville, Ga.) was 9-of-19 in the 800-meters (2:01.79).
 
Ezeokonkwo notched an 18-of-52 outing in the 200-meters with a time 23.59 and was 10-of-33 in the 400-meters (51.11). Senior 
Eric Wells-Shiver (Cumming, Ga.) rounded things out with a 22-of-48 performance in the 100-meters as he recorded a time of 11.57.
 
The Lakers will return to action in roughly two weeks when they travel to the Doc Anderson Invitational on Friday, March 15. Hosted by Division I Troy, that meet will take place in Troy, Alabama.
