ALLENDALE, Mich. – After being among the top four runners through the better part of the 10,000-meters, and in line for All-American honors, Clayton State junior Job Kemboi (Eldoret, Kenya) was unable to finish at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Thursday, May 21.

Consistently one of the top eight runners on the evening, Kemboi was in eighth place, the last spot for All-American recognition, with two laps to go in the 25 lap event. At that point, a stitch, or intense stabbing pain under the edge of the ribcage, made it impossible for him to finish the race.

Kemboi entered with the sixth fastest time in the country and hung with some of the best distance runners in the nation for 23 laps before succumbing to something beyond his control. That outing concludes what has been a record setting 2015 season for one of the best Division II runners in the Southeast.

The Lakers will have one more competitor this season as junior Jessica Matthews (Monroe, Ga.) makes her third straight appearance at the Championships on Saturday, May 23. She will compete in the triple jump beginning at 12:45 p.m. She will be fourth up in Flight 2.

Live video will be available at www.NCAA.com with a direct link here along with live stats for the triple jump.
