Hall of Fame
Perhaps the greatest player in the history of Clayton State men's soccer,
Jason Nidiffer put together a four-year stretch from 1994-98 that has yet to be matched in the two decades since he last suited up for the Lakers.
Â
Following in the footsteps of his brother Todd, who starred on the first team in 1992, Jason set a standard for all those who followed. Over the course of 62 games, all but two of which were starts, he compiled totals of 37 goals, 21 assists and 95 points. Each was a program record at the close of his career and he remains the career leader in both goals and points and is second all-time in assists.
Â
After a solid first season in 1994 that saw him notch a solid six goals and an assist, Nidiffer delivered the greatest single season in program history in 1995. That year he scored an incredible 20 goals and dished out 14 assists for 54 points. All three of those were single season records at the time and his goal and point totals remain so. It would take seven years before his assist mark fell to second, where it stands today.
Â
That season would also see him record then single game records of four goals and 10 points in a 6-0 win over North Georgia on October 31, 1995. In that game Nidiffer scored or assisted on the first five goals and would hold that mark until 2002. Both still rank second all-time. He also remains tied for the single game assist mark with three against Thomas (9/5/95) and delivered the first hat trick in team history.
Â
In 1996 he would become the program leader in goals and points as he finished with five goals and five assists for 15 points. As a senior the following season he would close his career with a team-leading six goals along with an assist for 13 points.
Â
Over the course of his career Nidiffer would also garner significant honors and recognition, including back-to-back All-Georgia Athletic Conference selections in 1995 and 1996. He is the only player to accomplish that feat on multiple occasions and also became the first Laker to be named GAC Player of the Week during that stellar 1995 season.
