Craig Butts has cemented himself as one of the most impactful big men in program history.  Butts finished as one of only nine Lakers to score 1,000 career points in program history.  At the time, Butts was only one of five Lakers to accomplish that feat.   In addition, Craig is currently the program leader in offensive rebounds with 233 and is second in total rebounds with 592 and in defensive rebounds with 359.  Butts is also third in made field goals with 456 and sixth in attempted field goals with 878.  Butts earned Peach Belt Conference All-Conference and D2 All-Southeast Region honors following the 2004-05 season where he averaged 17 points and 8.3 rebounds a game.  Butts led the team in rebounds in both seasons played.

During his time at Clayton State, Butts was coached by Clayton State Hall of Famer Gordon Gibbons.
