MORROW, Ga. – On Saturday, May 2
nd inside a crowded and jubilant University Center, the Clayton State Department of Athletics enshrined seven former student athletes, coaches, and members of the Administration into the Athletics Hall of Fame. This marks the biggest class in Clayton State Athletics Hall of Fame history dating back to their first class in 2014. In this installment of the Athletics Spotlight, we will dive into the seven Hall of Famers and their accomplishments.

Inductee #1: Ayrton Azcue | Men's Track & Field & Cross Country | 2009-13
- Owns many school records at Clayton State including the indoor & outdoor 800m run and in the Indoor Distance Medley Relay (DMR).
- He is currently second all-time in the indoor mile (4:13.85) and is fourth in the 3000m run (8:51.07) and in the 1500m run (3:55.90)
- Ayrton competed in the inaugural PBC Outdoor TF Championships and earned a pair of All-Conference mentions.
- Azcue a two-time All-American in the 800m run, including finishing as the National Runner-up in the Indoor Championships back in 2013.
- Ayrton was an eight-time USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region selection and five-time Outdoor All-Region honoree.

Inductee #2: Shaun Baddock | Men's Soccer | 2000-04
- Despite six knee surgeries, Shaun Baddock played in 70 matches and made 68 starts.
- Baddock was a three-time captain, which at the time, was the most captain appointments in program history. Geo Rios also was a three-time captain for the Lakers.
- In 2000, Shaun led the Lakers to an 18-3-1 record which is the most wins in school history. He played in all 22 matches that season.
- In his senior year, Baddock led the Lakers to a PBC Tournament and Regular Season Championship
- In his career, Shaun knocked in 22 goals and notched 18 assists
- He is a four-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll recipient and a three-time All-Academic Team award selection.

Inductee #3 Craig Butts | Men's Basketball | 2002-05
- Butts is one of only nine Lakers to amass 1,000 career points and that time he was only one of five players to achieve that feat.
- Craig is the school record holder with 233 offensive rebounds and is second in total rebounds with 592 rebounds.
- In other notable records, Butts is third in made field goals (456) and sixth in field goals attempted (878).
- Butts recorded 12 double-doubles, 47 double-digit scoring efforts, and posted seven games of 20+ points. He scored a career high 26 points against USC Upstate on February 5th, 2005.
- Following the 2004-05 season Butts earned PBC All-Conference and D2 All-Southeast Region honors while leading the team with 17 points and 8.3 rebounds a game.

Inductee #4: Jessica Charman | Women's Soccer | 2013-17
- Jessica played in 34 matches in net and made 154 saves.
- In 2017, Charman was awarded the 2017 PBC Scholar Athlete of the Year and she is only Laker to have been honored for this honor
- During her career, Jessica was a three-time PBC All-Academic team honoree and was honored as a first team Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Athlete.
- Upon graduation, Charman was the first radio Color Commentator in Charlotte FC history.
- She has broadcasted USL Super League, SheBelieves Cup, the 2025 Club World Cup, the NWSL, and MLS.
- Currently, Charman is one of the main voices of the MLS on Apple TV and she hosts a show on Sirus XM which is dedicated to women's soccer

Inductee #5: Catreia Shaw | Women's Soccer | 2001-03
- Shaw was one of the most prolific centers in program history
- Catreia is the program leader in career field goal percentage (60.4%) and rebounds a game (10.4).
- She is also the single season rebound leader with 293 following the 2002-03 season and with 136 offensive rebounds following the 2001-02 season
- She is one of four Lakers to average a double-double in a single season as she averaged 17 points a game and 10.8 rebounds in the 2002-03 season.
- At her point in her career, Shaw was the first Laker to be a multiple time All-Conference and she was the first WBCA All-American.
- Shaw ranks third all-time with 15.9 points a game and with 267 offensive rebounds.

Inductee #6: T.O. Totty | Women's Soccer | 1998-2010
- Coach Totty amassed an overall record of 104-114-15 and his 104 wins are seventh in PBC history.
- Under his direction, the Lakers competed in a couple of NCAA Tournaments and won the 2005 PBC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
- He coached the Lakers to three-straight PBC Tournament Championship games from 2002-05.
- Coach Totty mentored three Hall of Famers in Judith Chime, Olaiton Yousef, and Nkiru Okosieme.
- During his tenure, T.O. coached two All-Americans and 12 All-Conference honorees

Inductee #7: Mike Mead | Track & Field, Cross Country & Administration | 1990-2023
- One of the original founders of the Clayton State Department of Athletics and was the first Sports Information Director, Track & Field, and Cross Country coach.
- Mike was a six-time PBC Coach of the Year and was a two-time PBC Champion in Cross Country.
- Mead coached five individual Conference Cross Country champions, 17 All-Americans, and numerous All-Conference selections.
- His teams competed in 10 NCAA Cross Country Championships and 27 NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Track & Field Championships
- Mead served as the Interim Director of Athletes in multiple capacities and served as the Director of Facilities and Operations during his tenure.
