The Clayton State University Department of Athletics Announces Its Hall of Fame Class of 2023

The Department is inducting two exceptional Student Athletes and a former University President

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University Department of Athletics proudly announces the 2023 Class of the Clayton State Athletics Hall of Fame. This class features two exceptional student-athletes and a past Clayton State President.
 
Interim Director of Athletics Mike Mead announces that men's soccer player Barry Casebeer, men's track & field athlete Ahmad Rolle, and former University President Tim Hynes are set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. This year's class will be inducted on Saturday, May 20 in the Student Activities Center (SAC) Ballroom.
 
Barry Casebeer (2000-02)
  • Played in 49 matches.
  • Scored 32 career goals, which is tied for third most in program history.
  • Tallied 76 career points, which is tied for second most in program history.
  • 2x All-Region and All-PBC selection
  • Led the Lakers to a PBC Tournament Championship in 2000 and a PBC Regular Season title in 2001. 
  • Unsung leader of the Lakers that went to the NCAA Tournament in 2000 & 2001.
  • Joins teammates Josh Grenier, David Dowling, and Warren van der Westhuizen in the Hall of Fame
 
Ahmad Rolle (2006-09)
  • 4x USTFCCA Region Field Athlete of the Year and NCAA Qualifier
  • Earned All-America honors after placing fourth in the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump.
  • Holds three indoor school records (Triple Jump, Long Jump, 4x400 meter relay)
  • Holds two outdoor school records (Triple Jump, 400m hurdles)
  • Ranks second all-time in the outdoor Long Jump.
 
President Tim Hynes (2009-2021)
  • Held the Presidency during the 2011 Women's Basketball National Championship.
  • Helped Clayton State increase its graduation rate 9% during his tenure.
  • Was a part of the Dedication of the OrthoAtlanta Athletic Training room as well as the Dr. Joseph Wilkes Sports Performance Center.
 
More about the Hall of Fame
Established in 2013, the Clayton State Athletics Hall of Fame was created to honor former Laker student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty/staff, and community members who have, by their outstanding achievements, contributed to the ideals of the Clayton State Department of Athletics. Including this year's honorees, the Clayton State Athletics Hall of Fame has named nine classes and enshrined 30 former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, special inductees, and teams.

Fans can purchase tickets to the event here and will need to RSVP by Monday, May 15, as tickets will not be sold at the event.
