MORROW, Ga. – Former Clayton State University men's basketball standout Wes Williams just finished up his first season as a professional as he signed with Guifoes Sport Clube in the Portuguese 1 Divsao.
Williams joins recent former players Ricardo Saams Jr., Ricardo Lynch, Jalen Shaw, and Kobie Johnson who took their talents overseas to continue playing basketball. Williams was a part of Guifoes who finished their season in fourth place in the North-Promotion league with a record of 9-5. In his first season, Williams averaged 12 points, seven rebounds, and 20 minutes in 14 games.
Before signing with GSC, Williams played in Pheonix in the EuroBasket summer league. In three games, he averaged 8.3 points and shot 38% from three-point land. Wes played for the Lakers from 2021-24. In 83 games, Williams made 118 three pointers, which is tied for sixth all-time, and attempted 352 threes which is tied for the second most in program history. Wes also averaged 6.2 points a game and grabbed 255 total rebounds throughout his Laker career.
