Men's Basketball | July 17, 2025
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) announced on Thursday morning its list of the 2025 Honors Court honorees. The Clayton State University men's basketball team had two standouts that were selected for this prestigious honor.
Guards
Justin Evans and
DJ Wright were selected to represent Clayton State for this honor. This Laker tandem is the first selection since Brian Coffey II in 2023. Since the 2008-09 season, there have only been 10 Lakers selected to the Honors Court. This season saw six Peach Belt Conference selections.
This is the first such academic honor for Evans who arrived at Clayton State this past season. Evans, who is a native of Covington, Ga., did not see action this season, but was a standout at South Georgia Tech where he played 55 games in two seasons. A native of Greensboro, Ga., Wright was a standout on the court and in the classroom for the Lakers. On the court, Wright played in 27 games and led the team with 51 threes and 161 threes attempted. He also notched 323 points which came out to 12 points a game. In the classroom, DJ was honored as a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Team of Academic Distinction and a Presidential Honor Roll selection. Currently, DJ is in the CSU Graduate program and working to obtain his MBA.
