Men's Track & Field | February 1, 2025
SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Clayton State University track & field teams competed in the Tiger Indoor Invitational on Saturday. The Lakers saw a plethora of top three finishes and lots of successful times and marks.
MEN'S SIDE
Action on the track was kicked off in the 55m dash as
Dominic Archer qualified for the finals. In the finals, Archer finished in sixth with a time of 6.64. After
Mykell Strickland finished sixth in the mile run, the Lakers then dominated in the 400m dash.
Rakiem Barnes and Nehemiah took the top two spots with times of 53.34 and 53.61, respectively.
Titus Hand and Isiah Prince Oyakhire finished in fourth and sixth place. Later, on the track was the 200m dash and
Kalani Wyman crossed the finish line in fourth place with a time of 24.07.
The Laker success continued in the field events.
Davonte Jackson kept up his excellent indoor season as he won the triple jump with a final mark of 14.31m. Jackson then finished second in the long jump with a final distance of 6.83m.
Rodney Crawford finished fifth in the event with a final mark of 6.21m. Wrapping up the field events was the high jump.
Christian Wiltshire finished in second place with a final mark of 1.90m.
WOMEN'S SIDE
The Lakers got things started on the track in the 55m dash. Three Lakers qualified for the finals and leading the crew was
Payton Knowles who finished in third with a final time of 7.42 seconds.
Destiny Hanna finished close behind at 7.43 and
Jada Jenkins trailed after at 7.58 seconds. Both Knowles and Hanna occupy the two top spots in the Peach Belt Conference with those times.
Marley Tate then won the 400m dash with a time of 61.89. Knowles picked up where she left off in the 200m dash as she crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 27.21. That time is good for third in the PBC this season.
