MORROW, Ga. – Former Clayton State University women's soccer standout Manoly Baquerizo has recently signed a professional contract with the Spain-based club Deportivo Alaves Gloriosas. Deportivo Alaves competes in the Women's Primera Federación, which is one of the premier leagues in the world.
Baquerizo most recently played for Cacereno Femenino from 2021-24 which played in the Segundo Federación as well as competing in the Copa Del Reina. In her three seasons, Baquerizo played in 81 matches, amassed 5900 minutes, and scored 16 goals. From 2020-21, Baquerizo played for CFF Caceres, who was also in the Segundo Federación and notched a pair of goals in 17 matches.
Currently, Baquerizo plays on the Ecuador National Team where she has most notably appeared in matches against the likes of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Paraguay. She has made starts against Argentina on November 30
th, 2023 and against Brazil on December 1
st, 2023.
Baquerizo played for Clayton State from 2016-19. During her time at Clayton State, she played in 66 matches, scored 29 goals, which is fourth most in program history, and added 18 assists, which is also the fourth most in program history. Manoly was a two-time All-Conference selection as well as a 2019 D2CCA Southeast Region Second-Team selection. In her senior season, she helped the Lakers to their first PBC Tournament Championship match appearance since 2013.
