MEET PREVIEW
The men's team is led by the one-two-punch of
Camron Gaddis and
Rakiem Barnes. The Laker sophomores finished first and second in the first two meets of the season. Gaddis placed in the top 20 in both meets after finishing 10
th in the GMC Brickyard Invitational and 16
th in the Julius Johnson Invitational. Barnes, on the other hand, picked up two top 25 finishes after crossing the finish line in 14
th place in the GMC Brickyard Invitational and 25
th at the Julius Johnson Invite.
Freshman
Nevin Swanson follows Gaddis and Barnes as he placed third on the team in each of the first two meets. Swanson saw his best time come at the Julius Johnson Invitational crossing the finish line with a time of 29:14.6. As a team, the Lakers have brought home a pair of fourth place finishes.
On the women's side,
Jada Warren,
Tanaeya Johnson, and
Story Alexander lead the Lakers into the Asics/Alexander Invitational. Warren looks to continue her strong start to the season as she led the Lakers in the first two meets. At the GMC Brickyard Invitational, Jada won the race with a time of 21:20.30 and she placed eighth at the Julius Johnson Invite with a time of 20:25.9. Alexander and Johnson follow close behind. Tanaeya was the individual runner-up at the GMC Brickyard Invitational with a time of 21:43.80 while placing 16
th at the Julius Johnson Invitational with a time of 21:06.1.
Alexander rounds out the top three for the Lakers as she crossed the finish line in the top-15 in each of the first two meets. She ran her season best time at the Julius Johnson Invitational with a time of 20:54.7. As a team, the Lakers won the GMC Brickyard Invitational while finishing third at the Julius Johnson Invitational.
