MARTINEZ, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference announced its men's and women's track & field Teams of Academic Distinction on Wednesday. Presented by Barnes & Noble College, the teams are a part of the PBC's larger initiative to celebrate the academic achievements of PBC student-athletes and is modeled after the CoSIDA Academic All-America program.
Six Clayton State track & field student-athletes earned spots on the teams. The women's program was represented by
Ny'Asia Green and
Sasha Knowles and the men's program by
James Kilgore,
D'Eris Jackson,
Nigel Roulhac, and
Abijah Wilcox.
Wednesday's release concludes the Teams of Academic Distinction for Clayton State. A total of 33 Lakers were named to their respective teams this academic year.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.
