FAIRBURN, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's and women's cross country teams, in collaboration with Alexander High School, hosted the Asics Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. The men's team finished 10
th while the women finished 8
th.
Leading the charge for the men's team was
Camron Gaddis, who finished in 62
nd place with a final time of 28:03.43. Following close behind was
Rakiem Barnes, Kharyri Davis and
Darryl Jefferson, who finished 76
th, 77
th and 78
th place, respectively. Barnes ran his race in 28:34.23 while Davis ran his 8k in 28:37.06, and Jefferson crossed the finish line in 28:45.99.
Sancho Smith rounded out the top 100 finishers for the Lakers as he ran in 29:45.89. Smith finished in 90
th place.
The Lakers, on the women's side, were led by
Jada Warren. Warren finished 29
th with a time 19:46.57. Following Warren was
Tanaeya Johnson. Johnson finished in 47
th place with a final time of 20:41.03.
Ahlana Failey then finished not far behind Johnson as she placed 52
nd and crossed the finish line in 20:55.32.
JaBresha Palmer,
Sasha Knowles,
Ashley Johnson, and
Stephanie Escobar rounded out the Laker finishers placing 72
nd, 75
th, 77
th, and 80
th, respectively.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the D2 Festival Year Showcase, hosted by UA-Huntsville, on Saturday, October 22
nd. The men's race is set for 7:45 a.m. while the women will race at 8:30 a.m.
