Radford and Florence Earn All-Southeast Region Honors for Clayton State Indoor Track & Field

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Clayton State men's and women's indoor track & field have combined to earn a pair of United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors as announced by that organization earlier this week.

Senior Jasmine Radford (Lawrenceville, Ga.) picked up her first Indoor All-Region recognition after notching three top five finishes in the 200-meters over the course of five meets this season. She won the event ahead of 18 other competitors at the KMS Open (2/16) with a program record time of 25.19 after having picked up the win (1-of-18) at the Tiger Indoor Challenge (2/1) in her previous outing.

That would follow one of the few none top five finishes of the year as she placed 9-of-77 at the BSC Indoor Icebreaker (12/6) but it would be one in which she would set the program record for the first time with a mark of 25.39. Her last race would be her best as she once again lowered the 200-meter program record, this time to 25.02 with an 8-of-72 finish at the USC Indoor Open (2/22).

Entering the outdoor campaign she now has set 10 program records between both seasons. Overall, it is the second All-Southeast Region honor of her career, pairing with a 200-meter Outdoor selection in 2018-19.

Senior Chris Florence (Newnan, Ga.) would deliver an impressive campaign for his first Indoor All-Region honor as he posted three top five finishes in the 400-meters. While he picked up a 1-of-13 finish in that event at the KMS Open (2/16) with a time of 48.61, his most impressive performance would come in his final run of the season.

That came at the USC Indoor Open (2/22) where he set a personal best and notched an NCAA Division II Provisional Time of 48.47 to come in 12-of-81. He would also deliver a 5-of-47 outing at the BSC Indoor Icebreaker (12/6) with a time of 49.53 and a 5-of-36 performance (50.46) at the Emory CrossPlex Showdown (1/19).

Paired with an All-Southeast Region Outdoor honor in the 400-meters in 2017-18, this marks the second overall award for Florence in his time as a Laker.

In order to earn All-Region recognition, an individual has to either finish in the top five in their region in individual events or be a member of a relay team ranked in the region's top three.
