Clayton State's Gray Becomes First PBC Men's Field Athlete of the Week Since 2014

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Clayton State men's track & field continues to accomplish things not seen in years as freshman Michael Gray (Pooler, Ga.) has become the first Laker to earn Peach Belt Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week since 2014 as announced by the league on Tuesday, April 9.

Competing at the Gulf South/Peach Belt Challenge (4/6), Gray saw action in a pair of events, one of which came in the field portion of the meet.

Throwing the discus he placed 10-of-15 but delivered a personal best mark of 35.09-meters. That distance beat his previous mark of 33.20 by nearly two meters from the Emory Invitational (3/23). Additionally, he branched out into the track component as he competed in the 400-meters, placing 17-of-21 with a time of 52.17.

Gray joins two-time PBC Field Athlete of the Year Bryce Rauhof (2013, 2014) as the only other Clayton State individual to earn league Field Athlete of the Week honors. Rauhof claimed the only other three such awards, earning the first in 2013 and the two others during the 2014 campaign.
