Clayton State’s Rolle Finishes Ninth In Men’s Triple Jump At NCAA Division II Outdoor Track And Field Championships

SAN ANGELO, Texas –  For the second straight season, Clayton State's Ahmad Rolle came up just a tad short in his quest for NCAA Division II All-American honors in men's outdoor track and field.

Competing in the triple jump in the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday at Angelo State, Rolle finished ninth overall with a jump of 14.80 meters, just missing earning All-American honors. The top eight finishers in the event earned Division II All-American honors.

Seeded 16th overall going into the event, Rolle qualified for the finals as part of the top nine jumpers. He actually finished tied for eighth overall with St. Augustine's Brandon Quarles, but Quarles was awarded eighth place in the jump-off.

Last season, Rolle finished ninth in the same event at the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships, missing All-American honors by two inches. He finishes his distinguished Clayton State career having advanced to four national championship meets (two indoor, two outdoor), earning NCAA Division II All-American honors in indoor track and field for the triple jump in 2008.
