TROY, Ala. – Freshman
Brian Sims, Jr. delivered the best of three top five finishes as Clayton State men's track & field competed at Troy's Doc Anderson Invitational on Saturday, March 16. As a team they finished 4-of-5 in the primarily Division I meet.
Sims led the Laker efforts as he notched a 1-of-12 finish in the 400-meters with a time of 49.65 while sophomore
Courtland White (Rex, Ga.) came in 3-of-13 in the 800-meters (2:02.74). Junior
Evan Ortiz (McDonough, Ga.) rounded out the top five finishes as he placed 4-of-17 in the 1,500-meters, finishing in a time of 4:11.96.
Senior
Ryan Polk (Marietta, Ga.) notched a 6-of-13 finish in the 3,000-meters (9:30.42) and freshman
Michael Gray (Pooler, Ga.) was 6-of-12 in the 400-meters (52.33). Junior
Chris Florence (Newnan, Ga.) added a 9-of-24 finish in the 200-meters at 22.64 and sophomore
Na'im Allen (McDonough, Ga.) was 9-of-17 in the 1,500-meters (4:37.33). Freshman
Janei Sewell (Newnan, Ga.) capped things with an 11-of-19 performance in the 100-meters (11.34).
For the next two weekends, Clayton State will compete just 25 minute from campus as they take part in the Emory Invitational from March 22-23 and the Emory Classic from March 29-30.
