Clayton State's Tim Neusesser Earns Spot on CoSIDA Men's Soccer Academic All-District Team

MORROW, Ga. – Continuing a stretch of six straight seasons with at least one selection, Clayton State Athletics has picked up the 21st CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in program history as graduate defender Tim Neusesser (Bad Berleburg, Germany) has earned his first such honor as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday, November 7.

The 6-4 defender has been a key component of a Laker team that has gone 12-5 overall, knocked off No. 7 Francis Marion and produced a 10-0 shutout of Southern Wesleyan (9/11) and 8-0 blanking of North Greenville (10/29).

On top of that Neusesser has been integral to Clayton State producing 11 games of one goal allowed or fewer, including seven shutouts. For his career, those numbers increase to 17 games of one or fewer and nine clean sheets.

This year, when he has been on the field, the Lakers have allowed just one goal, that coming in a 5-3 win over North Georgia (10/23). In that one he made up for that one transgression as he personally got the goal back with a score of his own, which was the first of his career. Additionally, in his first year of eligibility he has also been named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team.

Neusesser's selection marks the 16th time in the last nine seasons, and 21st time overall, that Clayton State Athletics has had at least one individual selected to what is now known as the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Of those 21 selections, an incredible 13 have come since 2014-15 and includes all four multi-time honorees and three of the four Academic All-America's.

On the 12 person team, Neusesser is one of just three individuals to be selected from Peach Belt Conference schools, joining Magnus Hoejland of Francis Marion and Yesin van der Pluijm of Young Harris.

In terms of selections by program, the women's cross country/track & field programs have produced nine selections, good for the most in school history. Including the two selections on the men's side in 2011-12, those programs have accounted for more than half of Clayton State's Academic All-District choices. For men's soccer, this is just the second such honoree, joining Aleksi Tuominen in 2015.

Neusesser is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors which will be announced on Wednesday, November 4. Clayton State has four all-time Academic All-America selections and earned one each in a program record three straight years from 2015-18.
