Peach Belt Conference Preseason All-Conference

MORROW, Ga. – Coming off of one of the best season's in the 20-year history of Clayton State women's soccer, senior midfielder Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain) has been named to the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Preseason Team, as announced by that league on Wednesday, August 19.

The lone Laker named to the 11-person team, Marti Bartis earned the honor off of a 2014 campaign that saw her become just the fourth individual in program history to be named Daktronics All-American. She joined Alicia Robinson (2013), Olaitan Yusuf (2004, 2005) and Nkiru Okosieme (2004) as the only other individuals to earn that honor.

She was also a Daktronics All-Southeast Region First-Team, National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Southeast Region Third-Team and All-Peach Belt Conference Second-Team.

Every single one of those awards was greatly deserved as she scored 15 goals and had seven assists for 37 points on the season. Marti Bartis tied for 16th in NCAA Division II in both total goals and points per game (1.85) and tied for 18th in total points and goals per game (0.75). In the PBC, she ranked second in goals and sixth in total assists.

A one-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week (Sept. 15), she scored in each of her first four games, capping that stretch with a hat trick in a 6-3 win over Pfeiffer (9/12). The first-year Laker also notched a goal and an assist in a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference Quarterfinal victory over No. 22 Armstrong State (11/4).

Clayton State women's soccer and Marti Bartis will kick off the 2015 campaign at the CBU Tournament in Memphis, Tenn. on September 3 and 5. They will face Union (Tenn.) on the first day before closing with host Christian Brothers University on the final day of the tournament.
