Lakers and Mountain Lions Finish in a 2-2 Draw on Saturday Evening

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team played old Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Young Harris College on Saturday evening.  The Lakers and the Mountain Lions put on a show at Laker Field and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. 
 
The Lakers got off to a fast start to start the first half. In the seventh minute, Camilo Velez splits the defenders and gets past the Mountain Lion keeper for a goal.  Clayton State took a 1-0 lead.  The half proved to be physical with a lot of good defensive work.  Both teams only combined for eight shots and nine fouls.  Young Harris cracked the scoring column in the later part of the half in the 44th minute and the two teams played to a 1-1 tie going into the halftime break.

The Lakers and Mountain Lions picked it up offensively in the second half as they combined for 26 shots.  The Lakers saw Joao Amaral, Adrian Lopez, and Fabian Wagner all notch shots in the first five minutes of the half.  Sonny Simpson, Velez, and Adrian Gallegos also attempted shots in the first 10 minutes.  The Lakers then finally broke through again.  Off a cross into the box by Wagner, Amaral knocked in his third goal of the season, to make the score, 2-1.  The Mountain Lions then tied the match in the 60th minute and made the score, 2-2. 
 
Despite all the offensive pressure in the half, the Lakers and Mountain Lions finished in a 2-2 draw.
