Men's Soccer | August 7, 2026

KANSAS CITY – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) unveiled its College Team Academic Award selections from the 2025-26 academic year on Friday afternoon.  For the third straight season, both the Clayton State University men's and women's soccer teams were recognized on this list. 
 
Clayton State was one of only 175 schools to see both its men's and women's team selected. The men's team is the only team in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) to earn this award while the women's team is one of five schools to be recognized.  Overall, the USC recognized a total of 777 soccer teams including 451 women's teams and 326 men's teams. To be selected, the team must boast a team GPA of 3.0 throughout the 2025-26 Academic Year. 
 
Coach Pete Petersen's squad hosts its first regular season match on Thursday, August 27^th at Laker Field against Christian Brothers while Coach Ricky Clarke's team hosts Emmanuel on Sunday, August 30^th at 3 p.m.  In the preseason, the Laker men's team hosts Georgia State on Saturday, August 8^th at 7 p.m. Admission is free!
