BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team traveled to the Lowcountry of South Carolina to play the Sand Sharks of USC Beaufort on Saturday evening. The Lakers fell 105-82.
The Sand Sharks scored 10 of the first 12 points of the game and led, 10-2. USCB continued to set the tone in the game and eventually pulled out to a 19-9 lead.
Jojo Bell,
Eddie Page, and
Andre Young marked baskets for the Lakers early in the game. The Lakers tried to close the gap. At the score, 21-11,
Justin Evans and
Tahai Morgan hit baskets and cut the lead to five at 21-16. Evans then marked the next four points for Clayton State and the score read 23-20. The Sand Sharks then went on a 11-2 run and extended their lead to 34-22.
Down the stretch,
Eddie Page was a force as he knocked down 13 points in the first half but the Sand Sharks led 58-40 going into the halftime break.

The Sand Sharks carried the momentum from the first half into the second half and pulled out to a 23-point lead at 63-40. Then, Page, Young,
Joey Thomas, and
DJ Wright all made baskets for the Lakers and made the score 65-47. The Sand Sharks continued to pressure the Lakers but Wright and Young drained threes and closed the gap to 70-54.
Andre Young then took over the game for the Lakers knocking in 18 of the next 20 points and made the score, 93-74.
Wright, Thomas, and Page all scored for the Lakers down the stretch, but USC Beaufort toppled the Lakers, 105-82.

- Young finished with 29 points, seven boards, and three steals. That is eighth game that Young has scored over 20 points.
- Page scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed nine boards. Six of his nine rebounds were on the offensive glass.
- The Sand Sharks outrebounded the Lakers, 40-32.
