Thomas Marks Double Double in Loss at Flagler

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team embarked on their final road trip of the season as they played Flagler College down in Florida on Wednesday evening.  The Lakers suffered a 78-52 loss.

The Lakers and Saints played a close first six minutes of the game, but Flagler pulled out to a 13-10 lead.  Jojo Bell scored six of the 10 points for the Lakers.  The Saints then jumped out on a 14-3 run and extended their lead to 27-13. Bell made a layup to halt the run.  DJ Wright then scored the next handful of points for Clayton State but still trailed 31-20.

Joey Thomas then knocked in five of the final eight points in the half, but Flagler took a 45-30 lead into the halftime break.  Bell and Thomas led the team with 11 points.

Halftime: Flagler 45, Clayton State 30

Eddie Page and Bell combined for the first six points of the half for the Lakers and fell behind 54-36.  Flagler was stout defensively as they held the Lakers to only two field goals in the first 10 minutes of the half.  A Thomas jumper and a Bell three halted that drought.  The score read 63-43.

Thomas and Bell all scored points down the stretch for the Lakers but Flagler got the upper hand winning, 78-52.
