Morrow, GA--- The Clayton State University men's basketball team suffered a 102-82 loss to USC Beaufort on Saturday evening. In the contest,
Andre Young breaks the single game scoring record with 46 points and the field goals made record with 18.
The Lakers found themselves down by 10 points early in the first half but that did not stop the Lakers from competing. Young started his record breaking night scoring with the first basket for the Lakers with a jumper in the paint and capitalizing off the and one play. Young was able to score in the first half from all areas on the court. Along with Young,
Jojo Bell and
Justin Evans were able to see baskets go in for the Lakers. As the half went on, it was USC Beaufort that had the hot shooting and were able to grab tough rebounds that resulted in the half ending with the Lakers down by 21 points.
Halftime: USC Beaufort 57, Clayton State 36
The Lakers came out in the second half and were aggressive on both sides of the court. The Lakers were able to cause turnovers on defense and capitalized off the turnovers with made shots on the offensive side of the ball. The aggressive play by the Lakers saw the lead get cut down to 7 midway through the second half. Young continued to find scoring in all areas of the floor while
Justin Evans and
Eddie Page were able to get in the scoring column. As the half continued, USC Beaufort went on a 13-0 run to get up to a 24 point lead and held the comfortable lead to end the game.
