Morrow, GA--- The Clayton State University men's basketball team was able to capture its first conference win of the season with a win over Middle Georgia State University on Saturday evening.
The Lakers were able to get going at the start of the first half with a hot 10-2 run at the start of the game. The Knights were able to tie the game up at 12 at the 13 minute mark. The first half continued to be a back and forth competition as both teams were able to score from all areas of the court. The Lakers saw scoring from Joe Thomas,

DJ Wright in the first half. After a made three pointer by Young, the Lakers saw a 4 point lead going into the half.
Halftime: Clayton State 34, Middle Georgia 30
Coming out in the second half, the Lakers were the first to put points on the board with a layup by Young. The second half was similar to the first half with both teams able to get scoring going. The game was close all the way to the end as both teams were competing at a high level. The game was tied at 70 each with a minute left to go. Wright is able to score a key jumper in the paint to put the Lakers up by 2. A costly turnover by the Knights gives the ball back to the Lakers. The Lakers were able to hold the lead in the final seconds resulting in a win for the Lakers at home.
Final Score: Clayton State 74, Middle Georgia 72
