Cross Country Opened its Season at the UNG XC Invitational on Friday Evening

The men finished third while the women finished seventh in the race

OAKWOOD, Ga. – The Clayton State University cross country teams opened its 2025 Season at the University of North Georgia XC Invitational on Friday evening.  The men's team finished third while the women's team pulled out a seventh place finish. 
 
MEN'S SIDE
Leading the pack for the men was Camron Gaddis.  Gaddis finished fifth overall with a time of 26:46.2.  He was only one of six guys to go sub-26 minutes in the race.  Following up Gaddis was sophomore Emanuel Dixon.  Dixon, who finished in 8th individually, clocked a final time of 27:19.7.  Senior Rakiem Barnes and sophomore James Morrow followed close behind.  Barnes finished inside the top 15 with a time of 27:29.4 while Morrow ran the 36th fastest time crossing the finish line in 29:12.3. 
 
Rounding out the top five finishers on the team was newcomer Abubakr Jallow, who finished in 46th place with a time of 30:51.5.  The Lakers finished in third place just behind DIII Covenant and PBC foe Georgia College.

36th: James Morrow: 29:12.3

WOMEN'S SIDE
Leading the team for the women was senior Jada Warren.  Warren clocked the 11th fastest time, crossing the finish line in 19:26.8.  Jada was the sixth fastest PBC women in the race.  Marley Tate and Ivorie Smith followed behind. Tate finished in 40th place while Smith finished in 41st with times of 21:01.4 & 21:01.6, respectively.    Ahlana Failey and Kalkidan Hawkins rounded out the top five finishers for the Lakers.  Failey clocked a time of 21:36.8 while Hawkins finished her race in 22:56.2. 
 
The Lakers finished in seven places, overall.  The field included PBC schools North Georgia, Georgia College, Columbus State, and Middle Georgia State along with Georgia State, Covenant, Albany State, Piedmont, and Clark Atlanta.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Lakers continue its season as they travel down to Albany State to compete in the Willie Laster Invitational.  The women's race is scheduled for 6 p.m. while the men race a 6:50 p.m.
