DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Clayton State University track & field team competes in the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Monday and Tuesday. The Lakers are looking to duplicate their performance last season.
LAST SEASON
The Laker women's team finished in second place which is their best finish and first podium appearance in program history. The men's team finished in fifth place.

LETS HEAR IT FROM COACH BROWN
"My expectation for the conference meet is for everyone to do their best," said Coach Brown. "We must focus on what we want to, and I am looking forward to some good competition, good results, and being consistent. I am hoping that everyone can take what they learned throughout the season and apply it to the competition. I am looking for a fun and competitive day where everyone is just doing their best."
IMPACT PERFORMERS
The Laker men's team are led by
Davonte Jackson and
Camron Gaddis. Jackson, who is a junior, is ranked in the top three in the conference in the triple jump and in the 110m and 400m hurdles entering the championships. Jackson is also fourth in the conference in the long jump. Gaddis, who is a junior from Lawrenceville, Ga., is also ranked in the top 10 in a pair of events including standing in 10
th in the 1500m run and sixth in the 800m run. The Lakers are also looking for standout performances from
Titus Hand,
Nehemiah Horton, and
Kelvin Oppong,
Freddie Hawkins. Also, something as of note is that
Desmond Major and
Terry Mitchner are two of only 10 competitors in the decathlon.
The Lakers women's team is led by
Cayla Brown and
Ziona Harris. Brown ranks in the top five in the league in a pair of events including in the 100m and 200m dashes. She is also a part of the team who is second in the league in the 4x100m dash. Brown is looking for her fourth all-conference honor in the 4x100m relay. Harris, who is a sophomore, is also in the top 10 in a pair of events including in the 200m and 400m dashes. The Lakers will also look for
Ivorie Smith,
Payton Knowles,
Marley Tate, and
Destiny Hanna to make some noise. Also, something as of note is that Ky'Leo Worriels is making her season debut in the shot put, discus, and javelin at this meet. Worriels was a part of the women's basketball team this season.
