DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team earned the Eight Seed in the 2025 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Women's Basketball Tournament. The Lakers will open play traveling to the North Georgia mountains to face the nationally ranked Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia on Wednesday evening. The Lakers are looking for their first PBC Tournament crown since 2013.

RECAP OF SEASON MATCHUPS
The Nighthawks swept the season series over Clayton State and have won the past four games and six of their last seven matchups. North Georgia defeated Clayton State in Morrow, on December 7th, 78-57, before taking down the Lakers in Dahlonega, 92-67, on Saturday, March 1
st.
BOOK ON NORTH GEORGIA
North Georgia is led by seniors Caroline Martin, Emily Trushel, and freshman phenom Averie Jones. Martin leads the team tossing in 17 points a game, 51 steals, grabbing 5.9 rebounds, and logged 30.7 minutes a game. Trushel follows behind with 14.8 points a game and Jones contributed 11.2 points a game. The Nighthawks, as a team, score 76.9 points a game, which leads the PBC and allows only 61.8 points a game, which is second in the league. As a team, UNG shoots 36% from three, and has made the most threes in the conference with 228 threes made. The Nighthawks went unbeaten in the non-conference but lost to Columbus State on January 13
th and Georgia College on February 5
th.
CLAYTON STATE IMPACT PLAYERS
The Lakers are led by guards
Jadah Waite and
Jasmyn Burts and forwards
Ky'Leo Worriels and
Jada Alston. Waite, who is a senior from Brooklyn, N.Y., led the Lakers all season long in points a game (13.4), field goals made (136), three-pointers made (40), free throws made (63), assists (47), and steals with 51. Waite has notched four games of 20+ points and 23 games of double-digit scoring. Burts is second on the team in scoring averaging 8.4 points a game and has notched 10 games of double-digit scoring. Jasmyn is also second on the team with 45 assists and third on the team with 31 steals.
On the defensive side of the ball, Worriels and Alston are first and second on the team averaging 7.1 and 6.2 rebounds a game, respectively. Ky'leo is third in the conference and Jada is eighth in the league. In addition, Worriels averages 7.7 points a game while Alston pitched in 7.1 point a game.
Etaria Gibbons and
Sariya Henry leads the team with 23 blocks apiece. As a team, Clayton State is second in the league in blocks with 110 and fourth with 261 steals.
