SAINT. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team traveled to Florida to take on the Flagler College Saints in a game that stayed close throughout. Flagler came away with a 70-63 victory.
From the opening,
Armani Shaw hit the first three-point shot of the game getting the Lakers going, followed by
Dazjanae Greene knocking down a long range shot.
Jasmyn Burts attacked the rim on the fast break, and
Kyla Greene added timely jumpers to keep the game neck-and-neck.
Etaria Gibbons and
Tianna Dismuke controlled the boards, grabbing rebounds and creating extra opportunities, while
Nya Young contributed with a couple of steals and key passes. Midway through the first half, a smart, assist-driven sequence led to a few easy baskets, helping the Lakers stay right with Flagler.
Halftime: Flagler 31, Clayton State 27
In the second half, the Lakers stayed aggressive. Burts and Gibbons finished strong inside on fastbreak layups, while
Kyla Greene added jumpers and a three-pointer to keep the game close. Young and Burts sparked another quick run with steals that led directly to points, keeping the Lakers within striking distance. Even as Flagler responded, the Lakers pushed the pace andkept battling but ultimately fell 70-63.
