DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team overcame a 19-point first half deficit but ultimately saw its season come to an end as they fell to the University of North Georgia Nighthawks, 63-59. The Lakers bow out of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and finish with an overall record of 11-17 and 8-12 in the PBC.
The Lakers got off to a hot start in the game leading, 10-2.

Jasmyn Burts,
Tianna Dismuke, and
Armani Shaw tossed in baskets during that stretch. The Nighthawks then went on a three-point shooting clinic and buried four threes in th a row and pulled out to a 16-10 lead. UNG went up 18-12 after one quarter of play.
North Georgia then carried that momentum into the second quarter. A
Dazjanae Greene three-pointer got the scoring started for the Lakers they closed the gap to 22-15. The Nighthawks then went on a 14-2 run and extended their lead to 19 at 36-17 with 3:39 left in the half. Burts halted the run with a jumper.
Joy Harris and Burts combined for the final four points of the half for Clayton State, but UNG took a 40-23 lead going into the halftime break.

The Lakers came out of the break motivated and energized as they outscored the Nighthawks 16-6 in the quarter. Dismuke scored the first eight points for the Lakers and the UNG lead shrunk to 13 at 44-31. The Lakers dominated the rest of the quarter as Burts, Shaw and
Nya Young all contributed baskets. The Lakers did not allow a UNG field goal the entire quarter and closed the gap to seven at 46-39 at the end of the third. The Lakers kept inching closer to North Georgia in the early stages of the fourth as Harris and Young tossed in points making the score, 50-45. After a UNG layup, the Lakers went on a 10-1 run and eventually took the lead at 55-53.
The two teams then went back-and-fourth in the final three minutes of the game, however North Georgia scored eight of the final 10 points of the game and went onto win the game, 63-59.

- Dismuke went onto being the star of the game as she marked her sixth double-double of the season with 17 points (9-for-12 from the free throw line) and 12 boards (seven on the offensive glass)
