MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University women's basketball team concluded its homestand welcoming the Sand Sharks of USC Beaufort on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers pulled away in the second half to win the game 67-59.
Sariya Henry tossed in a career-high 17 points.
The Sand Sharks jumped out to an 8-2 lead early in the first quarter. Henry then scored 10 of the final 14 points of the quarter and the Lakers trailed, 17-14, after the first 10 minutes.
Jada Alston and
Armani Shaw got the Lakers on the board early in the second quarter and the Lakers took the lead at 18-17. After USCB scored the next five points, the Lakers went on a 10-1 run and made the score, 28-23. Jada Waite converted an and-one during that stretch.
The Sand Sharks scored eight of the last 10 points of the half and took a 31-30 lead going into the halftime break. Neither team hit a three during the half.

The two team played a very close start of the third quarter as the score was knotted at 42 with four minutes left. The biggest lead of the quarter proved to be four by the Lakers and they took a 50-46 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Amiyah Edney-Holmes, Waite, and Burts were among the scorers for the Lakers in the quarter. The Sand Sharks fought back in the beginning of the fourth quarter and made the score, 55-53. The Lakers then took control of the game going on a 9-2 run and made the score, 64-55.
Burts and Alston marked points down the stretch for the Lakers as they came away with a 67-59 win.
