Three Lakers Mark Double-Digit Point Totals in Home Loss on Saturday

MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team hosted USC Beaufort to conclude its homestand on Saturday afternoon inside the Loch. The Lakers drop a 106-82 decision to USC Beaufort.  
 
The Lakers jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the beginning of the first half.  Emmanuel Jones scored seven points during that run.  The Sand Sharks then went on a 7-1 run and closed the gap to 13-11.  The Lakers then extended their lead to 20-14 but USC Beaufort went on a 12-2 run and made the score, 27-22. 
 
The Sand Sharks scored eight of the 14 points and took a 49-37 lead going into the halftime break.  Jones led the Lakers with 16 points and six boards.  The two teams combined for 30 free throw attempts and USCB tossed in 33 bench points in the half.

The Sand Sharks got off to a hot start in the second half tossing in the first seven points and grew their lead to 54-37.  A pair of field goals by Dashaun Joseph ended the run for USCB.  The Sand Sharks kept their foot on the gas the entire second half shooting 63% from the field and 46% from three-point land.  Coach Alexander then found a spark off the bench in the midway point of the half.  Yannis Woods came off the bench and was 7-for-9 from the field and recorded 15 points and grabbed four boards. 
 
The Lakers saw baskets from Marcus Harris, Christian Chambers, and Aaron Pitts down the stretch, but USCB came away with a 106-82 win over Clayton State.

The Lakers (6-14 (0-10 PBC)) travel across to I-20 to play Augusta University on Wednesday, February 5th.  Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
