Dahlonega, GA – The Clayton State University Women's basketball team fought through a high-paced matchup against Carson-Newman University on Friday evening, ultimately falling 33-53 by halftime and dropping the contest despite strong individual efforts throughout the night. The Lakers showed fight on both ends of the floor, staying competitive through stretches and displaying determination from start to finish.
From the tip-off, the Lakers opened with energy and tempo. Jasmyn Burts got Clayton State on the board early at the free-throw line and continued to cook on offense, displaying mid-range jumpers and drives throughout the half. Tianna Dismuke played tough in the paint, earning repeated trips to the line and converting inside finishes that lifted the team's momentum. Paige McDonald set the tone defensively with early stops, while Aniya Jones added a strong drive that kept the Lakers within reach. Despite their efforts, turnovers and hot perimeter shooting by Carson-Newman gave the Eagles a first-half advantage.

Though Clayton State showed resilience and created multiple scoring stretches, Carson-Newman maintained its lead and closed out the game.
