DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's soccer team started its final road trip of the regular season falling to #20 North Georgia, 4-1, on Wednesday evening. The Lakers started the scoring, but the Nighthawks scored four unanswered goals.
The first half proved to be very active as the two teams combined for 21 shots, nine corner balls, and 14 fouls. The Nighthawks were active early with a pair of shots within the first 15 minutes of the half.
Andree Jimenez also fired in a shot during that time for the Lakers. UNG then tested
George Roke towards the midway part of the half as he accumulated a couple of saves. The match remained at 0-0.
The Lakers then cracked into the scoring column. In the 29
th minute,
Gonzalo LaChica set up
Fabian Wagner who finished for the goal and made the score, 1-0. LaChica had great opportunity, himself, in the 33
rd minute, but his shot went off woodwork. North Georgia scored in the 36
th and 43
rd minutes and took a 2-1 lead going into the halftime break.

The Lakers saw shots from Wagner and LaChica early in the second half but UNG still led, 2-1. The Nighthawks later extended their lead with a goal in the 70
th minute and again in the 84
th minute to take a 4-1 lead.
Camilo Velez,
Garbhan Feeney, and LaChica all sent in shots down the stretch, but the Nighthawks got the best of the Lakers, winning, 4-1.
