MORROW, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team closed out January hosting Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday evening. The Lakers suffer a 69-50 setback inside the Loch.
Jamall Clyce had a breakout performance with 10 points and 14 boards.
Aaron Pitts and
DJ Wright got the Lakers on the board first in the first half and made the score, 5-0. The next few minutes saw both teams trade shots and eventually the score was 14-10, Lakers. Clyce tossed in a pair of field goals during that stretch. The Hurricanes then responded with a 13-2 run and took the lead at 24-16.
Yannis Woods put down an emphatic dunk to end the run.
The Hurricanes scored nine of the final 12 points and took a 33-21 lead into the half.

Wright, Clyce, Pitts, and
Emmanuel Jones opened the second half with baskets and made the score, 37-30. Just as the Lakers closed the game, GSW went on a 9-3 run and made the score, 46-33.
Matt Brown nailed a three during that run.
The Lakers saw baskets by
Dashaun Joseph,
Marcus Harris, and
Lay Davis in the final minutes of the half, but the Hurricanes won, 69-50.
