MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Clayton State University men's basketball team played Georgia College & State University to conclude their road trip on Monday evening. The Lakers and Bobcats went down to the wire but ultimately, GCSU defeated Clayton State, 77-75.
Emmanuel Jones scored 25 points to lead the team.
The Bobcats started the first half leading 8-3. Then, Jones and Pitts each buried threes and made the score, 11-9. The Lakers then continued to shoot the three well as Jones and
Matt Brown splashed the ball through the net as the score read, 19-15. Later in the first half, the Bobcats grabbed the momentum. At the score, 28-24, the Bobcats went on a 12-0 run and jumped out to a 40-26 lead.
DJ Wright broke up that run and converted an and-one opportunity.
The Lakers scored six of the final eight points of the half, but the Bobcats led, 42-34 going into the halftime break. Jones led the Lakers with nine points. The story of the half was that GCSU outrebounded the Lakers, 27-8. The Lakers were unable to take advantage of nine first half GCSU turnovers.

Jones and
Aaron Pitts gave the Lakers the early offensive advantage at the start of the second half as they combined to score the first seven points and made the score, 42-41. The Lakers then grabbed the lead. At the score, 47-44, Pitts and Jones continued the strong offensive attack and tossed in the next nine points and led, 53-49. The two teams then went back-and-forth for the next several minutes and made the score, 62-61 with six minutes left. Brown and Jones knocked down threes.
The final two minutes of the game was a war at the free throw line, but the Bobcats prevailed over the Lakers, 77-75.
